Social Start-Up for Children, Youth & Young Adults
JDC Ashalim is an apolitical organization dedicated to the planning and development of services for at-risk children, youth, young adults and their families in Israel. Our work focuses on improving educational outcomes from birth through the transition to adulthood, narrowing the educational gaps, and strengthening family and community resilience.
As a social R&D incubator, together with the Government of Israel, JDC Ashalim creates and tests innovative programs, and prepares successful programs for nationwide replication. Our professional team includes educators, health workers, social workers and psychologists who combine years of field experience with JDC Ashalim's vision. We work with the Myers-JDC-Brookdale Institute and other Israeli research and academic institutions, responding to troubling trends and evaluating JDC Ashalim programs.
JDC Ashalim was created in 1998 as a strategic partnership between JDC-Israel, the Israeli Government (the Ministries of Health, Education, Labor, Social Affairs & Social Services, Finance and the National Insurance Institute) and UJA-Federation of New York.
In the past two decades, JDC Ashalim has developed and implemented over 250 programs for children, youth, and young adults throughout Israel. Over 70% of our pilot programs were deemed successful and continue to operate today under the auspices of the Government of Israel, improving the lives of tens of thousands of young people each year.
